The Evil Jew

Well, I only know of one. But that's a hell of a headline, isn't it?
Netanyahu, crowned in recent polls as the front-runner for Israel's top job, faced off against far-right West Bank settler Moshe Feiglin, who would bar Arabs from Israel's parliament and favors their emigration. (AP - Tue, 14 Aug 2007 17:57:33 -0400 (EDT))
That's some evil shit right there. I'm just sayin'.

Sorry, nix that thought. It had to do more with censorship of writings about US/Israeli politics than current events. But I think this new post of yours has potential to provoke thinking. Yikes

I read this UPI story with great interest.

The right wing Likud party grew to national leadership at a time when I wanted to see immediate withdrawal by Israelis from land illegally occupied by settlers. It seemed that the Likud was as hawkish as possible. So to read in this news story that the Likud is taking a relatively moderate stance made me choke.

Then, as I read that the right wing extremist Feiglin wants to get Israel out of the United Nations, this Libertarian thought, well... hey, maybe not a bad idea. I mean, I don't like his bigoted stance about barring Arabs from parliament, but is that the full story?

I would like to hear what the United Nations REALLY manages to do in Israel. Any time the United Nations takes a vote on some atrocity Israel commits, the USA vetoes it. So what's the point?

Is there any real pressure on Israel from the U.N.?

Does Israel belong in the U.N.? Is there any real good that it can do there?

And, if Israelis really want peace, is this U.N. debate going to bring out the voices of some citizens who have been silent and apathetic until now? Let's hear from them.
